Approach

Mill B North serves as a gateway for several other spots hidden within the canyon. There is a lot of drainage to cover here, and the higher you go the easier it is to access different terrain. The Mill B North Fork Trailhead is 4.4 miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon just north of the Mill B South Fork Picnic Ground. Getting to the Trailhead: 4.4 miles up the canyon, you will reach an S-Curve (look for the Mill B South signs). Immediately after the first (lower) bend in the S-Curve, there will be a parking lot to the right. From this parking lot, take the stairs up the slope to the north. Cross the road (watch for traffic coming around the curve to your left).

Equipment Needs

standard avalanche gear

Descent

This is a moderate climb but due to the southern aspect and the lower elevation, the snow is often melted out and sunbaked towards the bottom of the trail. Not a very good place for spring skiing once it gets warm. This canyon is access to a lot of other terrain back in the drainage including couloirs and other steeper terrain.
