|- Skin Track:||Moderate|
|Starting Elevation:||around 10,500 ft.|
|Elevation Gain:||about 3,000 ft.|
|High Point:||13,294 ft.|
|Max Slope Angle:||40°|
Two Options: You can either skin in from the Herman Gultch Trail head (exit 218 on I-70) or Butler Gultch (further west). The approach is similar from both Trail Heads in terms of difficultiy.
Skins or snowshoes, Ice Axe and campons are helpful if you if you are trying to ski the couloir. Even if you skin up to the ridge east of the Citadel double summit you still have a short couloir to climb before dropping in.
One of my favorite lines in the front range with lots of options. You can ski the couloir between the double summits for a nice 40 degree pitch with rock wall on either side.
You can also ski the Northeast face. Not sure on the slope angle but it is a open face with limited exposure.
You can ski the South East face for a more mellow descent (better if you started at Butler Gultch) with amazing terrain and small playful features all the way down.
**Take all necessary avalanche precautions. It is not uncommon to get a lot of wind loading in this area due to its proximity to the divide.**
