Details
Cold and snowy, but home to some of the best skiers and mountaineers in the world. The peaks are not very high, but then again you don't start very high either. Steep terrain, bushwacking, and technical skills are required.
New Hampshire has the White Mountains, and has a great series of backcountry huts and hostels sponsored by the Appalachian Mountain Club, as well as other organizations. New Hampshire is home to Mt. Washington, as well as many other peaks over 4000'.
How To Get There
Go north from massachusets into the white mountains. The farther north you go in New Hampshire, the steeper and taller the peaks get!
Camping
There is a lot of camping and accessible land around this state, but temps often will swing to below 0ยบ in the winter. There are quite a few options for huts to stay in.
Where To Eat
If you are in North Conway, go to either Flatbread or Moat Mountain Smokehouse. One is an all natural pizza place, the other is meat, potatoes and brews with a smoky flavor.
